The Landesverband NRW of bereaved parents and grieving siblings was officially founded on November 29, 2025. We are currently in the process of being accepted as a state association by the national association VEID e.V. The association's goal is to raise awareness, network, and strengthen self-help groups and other support services for families after the death of a child throughout the state.
Regardless of the deceased child's age or the circumstances of the death – whether during pregnancy, in childhood or adolescence, or, for example, through suicide – affected families should find greater social awareness, understanding, and appropriate support services. Further information on self-help groups and services will follow.

bereavement group for those affected by loss in the long term –
This bereavement group is for people whose loss occurred some time ago and whose grief manifests itself more quietly, but still noticeably, in everyday life. The café has been intentionally chosen to be child-friendly with play areas, so that parents can talk to each other in peace. There is a small fee for the breakfast offered.

In this bereavement group, we combine gentle conversations while moving with the calm, supportive presence of a therapy dog. Shared walks in nature and quiet moments with Cooper can offer comfort, relief, and allow new strength to grow.

Creativity and Grief (Workshop with and by those affected)
Sewing small hearts or other comforting tokens can offer grieving parents a quiet, tangible way to express love and connection when words fail. The creative process can soothe, provide support, and help transform pain into a caring, meaningful act. During the creative work, there is space for conversation and sharing.

The online "Follow-up Miracle" café offers support, guidance, and understanding for parents experiencing a subsequent pregnancy after an early loss. It provides a space to share feelings, memories, and current challenges amidst hope and fear.
